Many of the same principles used in motor vehicle accident analysis can be used in pedestrian and bicycles analyses. This is especially true when a motor vehicle is also involved. If a motor vehicle is involved, we can inspect the vehicle and download any electronic data from the vehicle. See Motor Vehicle Accident Analysis for more information.

In some cases, bicycles are equipped with aftermarket bicycle computers. These devices have the capability to record GPS data, bicycle speed and more. Similarly, some cyclists, runners and pedestrians use smart phone applications to track their rides, runs and walks. This data can be utilized to analyze the speed and movements before, during and after the accident.

Possible analyses of cases involving bicycles or pedestrians:

  • Evidence preservation via accident site and vehicle inspections
  • Aerial photography
  • Bicycle testing
  • Vehicle speed analysis
  • Impact location analysis
  • Time-speed-distance relationships
  • Avoidance analysis
  • Visibility analysis
  • Impact severity analysis
  • Vehicle lighting analysis
  • Traffic signal lighting analysis
  • Surveillance / dash cam video analysis
  • Accident simulation, animation & presentation
  • And more…
